Friday, April 24

We were up at 4:45. Showered and out the door at 5:15.  Dainty drove us to the airport.
Love Thai Airways and their Royal Silk service.  You sit on leather cubes while they check you in.  No weighing of your luggage either.  There is a separate immigration and security - so no lineups.

You take an escalator down one flight and you are in the lounge. We started with fruit and a latte.
Then we went to the spa for the free massage.  It is 30 minutes long and they do neck, shoulders, and back.

We went back to the lounge and enjoyed steamed pork buns and the free wi-fi.  At 7:05 we packed up to go to our gate as our flight left at 7:45.  What we didn't realize was we were 750 m away from our gate.  We walked and walked.... And got there at last call.  We barely made it for our orange juice and champagne.

Bruce decided to enjoy the fully reclining seats and rest instead of having breakfast. Not me!

We landed and headed to the lounge for our 4 hr layover.  The lounge is air con, the airport is not.

Enjoying the wine and little open face sandwiches and yummy tarts.  They have hot food too.  A nice variety.

We have some dong left so I went on a shopping trip.  Nothing to buy, guess we have to come back to Vietnam.

Off to Tokyo.  We have one of ANA's new planes.... Nice pods with all the bells and whistles.

Chicken piccata ....

We had time in Tokyo to go to the lounge and have a glass of wine and a slice of Hawaiian pizza.

Our plane to Vancouver is an old one... No pods.  It has seats that recline a little .... About half way.
Even the food was sketchy....

Breakfast was a little better

We somehow squirmed enough to last until we got to Vancouver.  We had over five hours to wait.
Somehow the time went rather quickly in the lounge.  We both had showers and felt human again.
About 45 minutes before our flight we went close to our gate.  Bruce wanted some food so as it happened there was a Tim Horton's there.  He ate and then we played on our gadgets.

It seemed like they should have called our flight. ,I got up to check the departure board and realized we were at the wrong area. Worse yet, we had 12 minutes to get to the gate.  Bruce ran ahead and got to the gate two minutes before it closed.  The attendant said they were looking for our bags to take off. ,needless to say they were off first in Saskatoon.

On Saturday, this happened... Yep 25 cm of snow.

Thursday, April 23

Last day of Mixbook making.... In Thailand
I worked on my book from 7:30 - 2:00.  I am on April 15th.... Pretty good.

I had a shower and time to relax until Dainty and Ahya come home from school.

We went to Kim's for dinner. She made great cocktails - coconut rum, mango and passion fruit juice.
She has mastered rotini bolognese - delicious.

Back to Dainty's we will have an early start tomorrow.

Wednesday, April 22

Up early as I want to finish up to the end of April today on my book.

After coffee, we spent some time working on packing our last suitcase we will check in.

Then I worked ALL day.  I took a small break at lunch to eat some lasagne (I bought at Villa) the other day.  It was as good as homemade.  A small container was $8.

Bruce made pasta with onions and garlic for dinner. He went across the street and bought chicken (with the feet on).  He thought she was giving him frogs at first.

Tonight we stayed home watching TV and playing iPad games.

Tuesday, April 21

Up early as I would like to get as much done on my Mixbook as possible before we get home.

Worked all day and managed to finish Vietnam :)

When Dainty got home she wanted to go to Fashion Island to get a few things and have dinner. It is   38 C here, too hot to sit outside. First stop, was to park the car where they wash and detail your car while you shop.  next, on the first floor of the parking lot there is a separate building that grooms dogs. So, Chi Chi went for a haircut.  No appointments necessary here for anything - Dr., car, hair, nails.... Just walk in!

Ahya's favourite pearl milk tea.

Off to Sizzler, delicious!

Grilled shrimp for me and an Aussie steak for Bruce.

When we got home - we got busy sorting the shells from the sand that we brought back from Koh Chang.

Tomorrow, we will pack one more bag and see how we are doing with space.  I am finished shopping, Bruce is smiling.

Monday, April 20

Up at 6:30 and ready for coffee. Today is working on book day.  I managed to get a few more pages done.

After school Kim picked me up and we headed to Paseo mall.  There is a shop there with nice tops. There is a shop there from Japan called Daiso, which is like a Dollar store, most things are $60 bahr ($2.00).  I found a couple cool things.  We also went out for supper at Wine Connection.

Then we went to Villa Market

Then home I came... With a few groceries and leftover ribs
Bruce went for a massage about 10 townhouses down from Dainty.  He says her style was more like the guy he goes to in Saskatoon.  One hour oil for $15 here .... Lots more there!

Dainty arrived home and had to show me Ahya's writing from school today.  Remember she is in kindergarten and this is without any help :). Warning: mature content!

Sunday, April 19

Today we woke up at 6:30.  Time to get up and dressed and have a coffee. Today we are planning on going to Chatuchuk Market.  We will leave a little after 8 as it will take about an hour to get there.

We arrived and started shopping.

We do have a list!  Of course the first thing we find is not on THIS list. It was on our Vietnamese list. Bruce found a shop that sold turquoise lanterns.  2 for $1000 baht.

Next we found this purse shop with stuff I absolutely love!

Getting hot and ready for breakfast.  We found an AC place, smiles all around.

Crispy pork and Chinese broccoli.

Pad Thai with Shrimp

Banana shake

Back to shopping!

This door had Bruce drooling

Stuff all made out of teak

Cool tables out of an oil drum

Great colours!

Need to make some of these!!! Wine bottle with LED  candle

After shopping for a while, sweat dripping, we needed a Chang break.

Awesome aquarium

Great place for a foot massage

We took a cab home and Dainty's friend and family were visiting.
Time for a drink and snacks.

Shopping finds!

GG's Hallowe'en outfit

Eucalyptus purse... My colour!

After a visit with Amy and her family we headed out to the Railway Market.  It was mostly clothes so we didn't stay long.

Time to go to The Flying Chicken restaurant.

Crab curry, winged bean coconut salad, shrimp fruit salad and of course the chicken.

Bruce also ordered the ribs in clay pot.

It was pretty amazing watching the young guy on the unicycle catching chickens on a spiked helmet.  They asked for volunteers and Ahya volunteered.
Too much fun!
