Monday, Jan. 26 3rd Post

While browsing the markets we found few things (marbles, balloons, and containers of bubbles) to take to Nuu Rain on Wednesday.  We also found wide zippers for a couple of dresses I want to get made in Vietnam.  I also found a stand selling those baby pineapples that I am hooked on.

By this time we were getting tired and were far from home., so we got a tuk tuk to drop us off at the Night Market.... Closer to home. We started walking to O'Malley's Bar for a beer... we went by an Indian fabric shop and he had some gorgeous high quality pashminas. I ended up getting four, thinking that I will get them made into jackets in Vietnam.  Even with bartering the cost ended up to be $4000 baht.

We got a couple of beer from the bar and went next door for some pampering.  Bruce got a pedicure and I had a foot massage - best $300 baht you can spend.

We walked home for a rest.

Around 6:00 we walked to a restaurant we had spotted on our earlier walk.  It has beautiful grounds with tables alfresco and also a large teak house with seating inside and out.  Upon arrival, we had to remove our shoes, as we were eating on the balcony of the teak house and the floor was polished teak.  The restaurant is Indian and Thai.  We had vegetable pakoras, tandoori chicken, prawn red curry, and house special fried rice (more vegetables than rice).  Fancy place so we got to use Visa ....
$1780, wine costs a lot here and we can't seem to go without it.  A 1/2 carafe of Chilean Cab Sav cost us $550 baht ($22 Canadian).  Food was delicious.

Cool dishes

We had one piece of tandoori chicken left.  On the way home Bruce spotted a guy going through the garbage looking for food, so he gave him our leftovers, he was thrilled !

We came home and Bruce beat me in cards.  Early night as tomorrow is our cooking class day.
