Friday, April 24

We were up at 4:45. Showered and out the door at 5:15.  Dainty drove us to the airport.
Love Thai Airways and their Royal Silk service.  You sit on leather cubes while they check you in.  No weighing of your luggage either.  There is a separate immigration and security - so no lineups.

You take an escalator down one flight and you are in the lounge. We started with fruit and a latte.
Then we went to the spa for the free massage.  It is 30 minutes long and they do neck, shoulders, and back.

We went back to the lounge and enjoyed steamed pork buns and the free wi-fi.  At 7:05 we packed up to go to our gate as our flight left at 7:45.  What we didn't realize was we were 750 m away from our gate.  We walked and walked.... And got there at last call.  We barely made it for our orange juice and champagne.

Bruce decided to enjoy the fully reclining seats and rest instead of having breakfast. Not me!

We landed and headed to the lounge for our 4 hr layover.  The lounge is air con, the airport is not.

Enjoying the wine and little open face sandwiches and yummy tarts.  They have hot food too.  A nice variety.

We have some dong left so I went on a shopping trip.  Nothing to buy, guess we have to come back to Vietnam.

Off to Tokyo.  We have one of ANA's new planes.... Nice pods with all the bells and whistles.

Chicken piccata ....

We had time in Tokyo to go to the lounge and have a glass of wine and a slice of Hawaiian pizza.

Our plane to Vancouver is an old one... No pods.  It has seats that recline a little .... About half way.
Even the food was sketchy....

Breakfast was a little better

We somehow squirmed enough to last until we got to Vancouver.  We had over five hours to wait.
Somehow the time went rather quickly in the lounge.  We both had showers and felt human again.
About 45 minutes before our flight we went close to our gate.  Bruce wanted some food so as it happened there was a Tim Horton's there.  He ate and then we played on our gadgets.

It seemed like they should have called our flight. ,I got up to check the departure board and realized we were at the wrong area. Worse yet, we had 12 minutes to get to the gate.  Bruce ran ahead and got to the gate two minutes before it closed.  The attendant said they were looking for our bags to take off. ,needless to say they were off first in Saskatoon.

On Saturday, this happened... Yep 25 cm of snow.
