Monday, March 16

Today we decided was a downtown day. At around 11:30 Jay drove us to the pak soi (which is to the main road).  There we caught a taxi to Central World, which is a mega mall.

On the 7th floor is the movie theatre.  For $450 baht we reserved a love seat for the 2:20 showing of '50 Shades of Grey'.  We still had time for lunch and a bit of browsing.

We snooped around Marks & Soencer (I tell you they have e dry store in Bangkok, somewhere).

Then we went to a Thai chain- Pizza Pizza for lunch.  They have a wood fire.  We ordered the Pompeii pizza- it was delicious.

Then we continued to walk around M & S and found a couple things to buy.
A quick trip to the washroom

For kids too

Time for the show!  The loveseat was quite luxurious.  There were many previews and ads.  But finally it came time to stand and listen to the King's anthem.  After the anthem the movie begins.  When the movie ended (which was at the e d of the first book), Bruce said it can't be over, we only watched about 20 minutes.  The movie is 125 minutes.  I guess he liked it!  I thought it was excellent!

After the movie we needed to take the BTS to Phrong Phong which is the closest station to where we are meeting Dainty for dinner.  We arrived at the station and walked a bit to find a place to have a drink.
We also then can use Wifi to find out where we need to go.

We found a cab and the driver was hilarious.  He told Bruce he was lucky to find a teacher to boom, boom with.  Anyway, after a few attempts and a call to the restaurant we found it.

The idea is to sit on huge beanbags on the lawn.  Bruce took one look at them and said nope his back would die.  So we opted for the deck which overlooks the lawn.  When the sun goes down the temperature is perfect.

We ordered a bottle of wine- celebrating my $1000 back pay cheque.  Dainty arrived a little late due to it being down a couple windy little sois.

Bruce and I ordered the Forbidden Ribs with the deep fried onion.  The ribs were really spicy but absolutely tender and delicious.  The onion was like the one at Tony Roma's but way less batter.... Just a dusting on top.

Ahya's salmon came with sauce in a dish of dry ice

We had to have dessert as they are known for them.
I had a caramel crepe cake with put brittle and whip cream.  Bruce had the chocolate brownie and three scoops of homemade ice cream.  His was called Wicked.

We ended up home around 10:00, late for us!  Tomorrow we are off to Hua Hin, we will need to leave around 8:00 as we have reserved seats on the 9:30 a.m. bus.
