Wednesday, March 11

We were up and ready for breakfast at around 8:00.  We had different choices today for breakfast: small pork and veggie kebabs that were good.  Of course I didn't bring my camera today.

I watched a guy on a bicycle ride up to the security guard across the road from us.  He opened his little cooler on the back of his bike.  Took a glass, put in some condensed milk, a little (what looked like sugar), then took a plastic water bottle filled with coffee and poured it in the glass, took a little whisk and whisked it, adding ice cubes and a straw. Handed it to the security guard and received some money.   Food truck on a bike! Delicious Vietnamese iced coffee.

After breakfast, and a bit of rest,we decided to check out.  When we got to the desk she said that we could get the hotel car transfer, which is $16 or the taxi which is $20.  So, of course we opted for the hotel car.  Our hotel bill: three nights hotel in a suite, breakfast buffet, 10 kg of laundry washed, dried, folded, transfer to airport - $184.  Once again I love Vietnam.

We checked in at the airport and our suitcases were lighter than what our scale said.... Yeah!
We went for a coffee and French pastry, my chocolate croissant was OK, overheated.  Bruce's lemon cheesecake was marvellous.

Across the runway.... Are many planes loaded and ready for war?

Our flight was on time.  We had a hot meal - pork with rice and veggies. A salad, hot buns, and an interesting fruit custard dessert.  Also, complimentary red wine.

When we landed, went through immigration, got our luggage and then went to Duty Free.
We each bought a bottle - tequila and dark rum.

Took a taxi to Dainty's, excellent taxi driver.

Dainty brought home supper-  shrimp and rice, vermicelli noodles, veggies, fish, steamed rice.... And more.  We also had banana fritters, green grapes, and mangoes for dessert.
