Sunday, Feb. 15

This morning we were up and at breakfast by 7:45.  Our tour is picking us up at 8:30.
We started the day by going to the War Remnants Museum.  Pretty sad stuff!

This is the sewer that a family was forced into and then killed.

Prisoners were forced to stand on their head on this rough metal.

Then one guy from our tour didn't come back... We waited 30 min. He never showed, but called the tour agency later upset.....

I took this pic while we waited, he is waiting for someone who needs a ride.

Next we went to a place that sells civet coffee. We got to taste it for free. It is very good but at $20 a lb... No thanks.

Off to the oldest pagoda in Saigon, inside Chinatown.

Then we visited the Chinatown market. This  market sells many things in bulk, and only in bulk.  No one speaks English. The stuff is imported from China, so cheap and not so well made.

Then we were off for lunch...
We had Pho with chicken and a Saigon beer. We  also shared Vietnamese spring rolls.

Delicious

Bruce found the hat on the street....,good enough for a pic. Many folks wear them here.

After lunch we visited the Reunification Palace

We were off to visit a lacquer factory next.  This is such a time consuming art.... Done by the people affected by Agent Orange (there are already five generations that have been affected.)

All done  by mother of pearl and egg shells.

Now it was off to Notre Dame cathedral and the Post Office.

Girls,outside the church

Then it was back to the hotel. We walked first to get our Valentime picture. Bruce had a shower and went for a 90 min Vietnamese massage (Thai style with oil).

We went to a great fushion place for dinner.
